Made because there was no easy way to do this

A form that had to go back the same day, a desktop Mac with no trackpad and no iPhone to hand, and a signature box that would not accept anything. macOS Preview captures a signature from a trackpad, a camera or an iPhone — and offers no way at all to type one or to upload a picture of one. Windows has no built-in way to sign a PDF whatsoever. The alternative was a monthly Adobe subscription for one signature on one page.

Signet is that missing option: no printer, no scanner, no trackpad, no second device, no subscription.

Three ways to make your signature

Draw it

With a mouse, a trackpad or a finger. Smoothed as you go, so a mouse signature still looks like handwriting.

Type it

Your name in one of four handwriting styles. No input device needed beyond a keyboard.

Upload it

Photograph your real signature on white paper. Signet lifts it off the page and drops the background.

Questions people ask

Do I need a printer or a scanner?
No. The result is the same as printing, signing and scanning — the signature is written into the page and the file is flattened.
Do I need a trackpad, a camera or an iPhone?
No. That is the gap this was built to fill. A keyboard alone is enough.
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is opened, drawn on and saved inside your own browser. Nothing is sent to a server, because there is no server. Switch off your internet connection and the app still works — which is the easiest way to check the claim rather than take it on trust.
Does it work on Windows?
Yes, and on Mac, Linux, iPhone and Android. Windows has no built-in PDF signing at all, so there is more to gain there than anywhere.
Can I keep it on my computer?
Yes. Install it and it gets its own icon, opens in its own window, works offline and can open PDFs directly from Finder or File Explorer.
Is this a legally binding digital signature?
It is an ordinary signature on a document, the same as one you print, sign and scan. It is not a certificate-based (PAdES) digital signature — if someone has asked specifically for one of those, they mean a signing certificate, which is a different product.
